Dancing With The Stars: Who is JR Martinez?

Prior to last night most of us had never heard of J.R. Martinez who made his dancing debut on Dancing With The Stars. However, after watching him last night on the dance floor and hearing his story most people were completely touched by him and his incredible outlook on life and positive attitude. J.R. is known by some as a star on All My Children and a motivational speaker but his story starts long before that. At 19, J.R. was joined the military and was deployed to Iraq in 2003 as an Infantryman in the U.S. Army. JR Martinez ran over a land mine while driving his truck and suffered major burns that covered more than 40 percent of his body. Following this accident J.R. has undergone 33 surgeries including skin grafts and tissue expansions. He is now 28 years old. Martinez has a great sense of humor and finds the good in all situations. He has taken this new challenge on Dancing with The Stars with full energy. His partner is Karina Smirnoff who has stated that he a real-life hero who is inspiring and a positive influence.
